When something happens, you intervene immediately. But you must use your common sense and consider what you should do first or how to involve others for tasks that you cannot do all at once. You must maintain an overview and take charge.
You know how to move someone to safety and how to handle conscious victims who may panic. You ensure that the injury does not worsen unnecessarily. You recognize hypothermia and know how to respond.
If someone is unconscious, you must determine if they are still alive and always start resuscitation. You call emergency services and ensure that bystanders keep their distance, do not panic, and assist if necessary.
